Power to the Consumer!

by Matt Cheuvront on October 6, 2010

“Shoppers want to belong. They want to be heard. They crave a better buying experience. Power is shifting from the retailer to the shopper. Social commerce is filling the void between clicks and bricks to deliver this personalized experience.”

These words can be found on the home page of the first annual Rise of Social Commerce conference. I have the pleasure of attending the conference (and may have had a thing or two to do with the development of the conference’s website).

In the video above I share a few words and pose three questions I hope to “answer” over the next two days:

1) How are big businesses using social media to their advantage?

2) How does social media redefine “marketing”?

3) How does social media change (and improve) the customer “experience”?

How would you respond to these three questions? Stay tuned over the next couple days as I’ll have video recapping the day’s events (semi) live from Palo Alto!
